Instant Photo's for trade show

Application integrates a high quality camera for a tradeshow with Internet. A promotional picture is taken at the tradeshow booth.  Later, the application uploads the picture to the booth's web site.  The tradeshow participant logs into the web site, views and downloads the photo.  Presents an extra opportunity to sell the product.

Visual FoxPro

Microsoft Certified FoxPro developer - both for desktop and distributed applications. Developed / supported / migrated many applications.

FoxPro Sales Office Automation

Updated a 500,000 line FoxPro DOS application to Visual FoxPro (VFP 9 - the current version of FoxPro). This was accomplished by creating a platform that permitted mixing the DOS tool with an increasingly modernized VFP 9 application. The updated portion of the application provides for modeless windows, multiple simultaneous sessions, structured hierarchical classes, etc.

The migration of code was incremental. The operation was able to continue use of the application while the codebase was updated.

The application contains all aspects of sales office automation, from sales, management, marketing, production and shipping. The application is integrated with a .NET web site - sharing inventory, pricing and descriptions, and providing for automated order processing. At various times the system was integrated with a touch tone order entry system. The system is integrated with a high capacity telephone system to track phone sales and to connect recordings with the sales session. Integrates Microsoft Office applications to automate customized mailings. Integrates with mailing application for order tracking data. Uses socket tools to send automated email notes and transmit files as needed via FTP. Uses both VFP native tables and queries multiple SQL databases.  Barcode scanning for mail tracking.

FoxPro ‘ProTools’

Library of over 300 utilities designed to extend FoxPro capabilities. Tools include user interface, error recovery, debugging, LAN access and more. They are compatible between DOS, Windows and the Mac. The tools are used in my applications and are also marketed to other developers. Included is a 400 page manual. Commercial product marketed worldwide to database developers.

FoxPro Sales Lead Database

Electronic collection and updating of factory catalogs, product graphics and price lists. Electronic capture of sales leads from factories, trade shows, magazines, and trade lead specialists. FoxPro Drug Interaction Reference

Cross-references drugs, interactions, and supporting articles. Automatically creates-indexes by ‘learning’ a definition of terms as articles are input into the system. Commercial product developed for a medical author for distribution with a book.

FoxPro Laboratory Analysis

Track specifications vs. laboratory determined actual values of grain analysis. Provide custom report for each lot sold with provisions to adjust for individual purchaser’s specifications. Created for a major agriculture company.

FoxPro Conversions from DataEase

Extracts data from the proprietary DataEase database system into a FoxPro database.  Used by an insurance company to migrate data to the Goldmine contact management system.

Aristo Interface

Created EDI Interface for the Aristo Parcel Shipping System (APSS).  This is a data driven tool that write transaction records to be transmitted to service vendors.  In addition, an application to call each EDI enabled vendor and to transmit the electronic data was created.

Nutrition Application

Enhanced application that calculates nutrition content and provides labels per government rules.  Labels are generated by the application itself using 'GDI' system references.  Labels are multi-lingual.

KIWI Macintosh Interface

KIWI is a proprietary Macintosh shipping application.  KIWI can accept transactions requesting service via the Macintosh serial port.  Created a PC based application that can send and receive transactions to the KIWI system.

Designed system to choose respirators based on user selections. Concurrent use for multiple user sessions, multiple country regulations, multi-lingual.

Web Site Development

Designed and implemented internet web sites for several clients.  Wrote custom HTML, CGI, Perl.

Automated Link Analysis

Created application that searches Internet by 'crawling' through related links.  Application tests that links are functioning properly, parses the HTML from the link's web page, tests for applicability to the search, and rates the link.  Embedded links on this page are then used to create a list for searching additional sites.  HTML code is analyzed for common usage of capabilities.  These are captured and rated, making it possible to statistically determine sites of interest.  Criteria for both inclusion and exclusion of sites are data driven. Multi-threaded - making it possible to search many link chains simultaneously.  Links are rated to optimize potential search paths and depth.

HTML Parser

FoxPro based parsing of HTML.  HTML code, as it is produced both manually and through many applications, is often very inconsistent.  This parser will return consistent, well formatted HTML information in a database format that is very easy to use by the calling application.

Automated Web Page Creation

Automated construction of web link pages with user included options.  All pages are cross referenced, titled.  This is set up to tabulate and filter massive amounts of links into manageable sized pages that can be rapidly loaded.

Paradox

Paradox Case Management System for Lawyers

Perpetual calendaring system, meeting planner, automated to-do list that includes items based upon ‘triggered’ events, electronic mail, notes, indexed notes, linkage to documents prepared in other applications, as well as many specialized screens representing categories of information used in typical case preparations. Data is extracted for use in word processors or spreadsheets. Links to most other DOS applications.

Security includes various levels of access and usage control, as well as auditing of system usage. Commercially marketed.

Paradox Financial Database

On-line environment for accountants to extract many reports to help with analysis of operating income and P&L. The large database is collected from a mainframe, and downloaded to the PC based LAN. From there it is imported into Paradox. Users are given a choice of reports. Input forms are provided to ease entry of information that is not included from the mainframe database. Created for a Fortune 100 manufacturing company.

Provisions for a large volume of historic data. Ad-hoc search and selection criteria. Created for a trial lawyer association.

Paradox Advertising Media Resale Tracking

Follow distribution of publication purchasing into portions that are resold to other parties. Produce invoices for these portions. Created for a marketing services company.

Paradox System to Analyze a Pay Telephone Company’s Log of activity

From an electronically collected log, information is extracted that deals with the collection of money. This is matched against a list of subscribers to provide a revenue report for each telephone and each client. Created for a major pay telephone company.

Goldmine Contact Manager

Custom additions to Goldmine.  Adds data to Goldmine, extracts data for use with other applications, automated interfaces for applications to Goldmine. Both OLE and DDE interfaces to external applications. Uses Goldsynch. A major insurance company used these capabilities to interface Goldmine for sales contacts to other applications.
